第3回有吉佐和子文学賞にて、応募総数1,314編の中から「佳作」を受賞。 本作『十月二十五日の筑前煮』は、就職活動につまずいた大学四年生が、実家から届いた筑前煮を温めなおす――そんな、深夜のたった三十分間を切り取った短編小説である。 書きたかったのは、大きな出来事ではなく、ものの姿そのものが裏返る、その一瞬の傾きだった。「貧乏くさい」と疎んでいたタッパーの傷や曇りが、容器の隅に貼られた一枚のマスキングテープと、そこに書かれた日付「10.25」を境にして、まったく別のものとして立ち上がってくる。東京のワンルームに似つかわしくない「生活感」だったはずのものが、何百キロも離れた台所で母の手が積み重ねてきた、戻ることのない時間の地層として。タッパーそのものは、何ひとつ変わっていない。変わったのは、受け取る主人公のほうだった。 同時に書きたかったのは、救われるということが、ときに、ひとりで抱えてきたものを知らぬ間に他人の手に預けてしまうことでもあるという、ささやかな逆説である。だから主人公は、すぐには「ありがとう」と打てない。感謝してしまえば、ひとりで耐えた夜が、誰かの優しさの物語の挿話に格下げされてしまうから。 ものと身体のあいだで、音もなく起こる微かな組み替え――それだけを、できるかぎり静かに置いた一作である。 最後に、選考に携わってくださった全ての関係者様方、そして尾花和歌山市長に、心より、感謝申し上げます。 ※下記に添付したURL（https://kenharima.com/chikuzenni/）より、受賞作『十月二十五日の筑前煮』の本文（1,619文字）をお読みいただけます。 ▼ 受賞結果はこちら（和歌山市） https://www.city.wakayama.wakayama.jp/kurashi/bunka_sports/1001119/1064886/1067559.html ▼ ポートフォリオはこちら https://kenharima.com ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー Awarded Honorable Mention in the 3rd Sawako Ariyoshi Literary Prize, selected from among 1,314 submissions. My story, “Chikuzenni on October 25,” is a short piece that captures just thirty minutes late at night: a fourth-year university student, having stumbled in the job-hunting process, reheats a container of chikuzenni sent from home. What I wanted to write about was not a major event, but the instant when the very appearance of things turns inside out. The scratches and cloudiness of a plastic food container the protagonist had dismissed as “cheap-looking” are transformed by a single strip of masking tape stuck to its corner, and by the date written on it: “10.25.” What had seemed like an out-of-place trace of domestic life in a Tokyo studio apartment suddenly rises into view as something entirely different: a layer of irretrievable time, built up by a mother’s hands in a kitchen hundreds of kilometers away. The container itself has not changed at all. What has changed is the protagonist, who receives it. At the same time, I wanted to write about a small paradox: that being saved can sometimes mean unknowingly entrusting to someone else what one has been carrying alone. That is why the protagonist cannot immediately type the words “thank you.” To express gratitude would be to let the nights endured alone be demoted into a mere episode in someone else’s story of kindness. A quiet rearrangement that takes place, without a sound, between object and body—that was all I tried to set down, as quietly as I could, in this story.
