It's Not A Compliment
This was a project aimed at creating a safe space for cis women, cis men, and queer individuals to document their experiences of street harassment, and simultaneously account for the different ways in which harassment is experienced/affects different individuals. In doing so, we also hoped to express the prominence of the issue, seeing as street harassment is considered a trivial one even though it instills fear and distress in victims and forces the victims to renegotiate their routine in order to avoid harassment to ensure their safety. Additionally, we also structured our project in a way that our long-term goal (after achieving awareness within the community) would be to empower individuals to call out harassment when they see instances of it occurring and defend victims of street harassment (including themselves) in safe ways.
