What we do

We Create Time Machines for Builders. OpenSpace is a construction tech company using AI for next-generation 360° photo documentation of job sites. Attach a camera to your hardhat, tap record and go. OpenSpace is on a mission to bring new levels of transparency and tracking to construction. Our solutions combine simple off-the-shelf 360 degree cameras, computer vision, and AI to make it incredibly easy to capture a complete visual record of the jobsite, share it via the cloud with remote teams and process for insights. To date, our customers have used our platform to capture over a billion square feet of active construction projects across thousands of sites in dozens of countries. OpenSpace is based in San Francisco and was founded by experienced entrepreneurs and engineers with several successful exits under their belt. We are rapidly growing and well-funded with a team that combines people with deep, first hand experience in construction with the best AI PhDs and engineers (MIT, Stanford, CalTech, Berkeley, Penn) out there.

Why we do

Affordable housing shortages, outdated infrastructure, aging power grids: these are massive, pressing problems facing our country, and the world. But we’re not confronting them as boldly as we should—in part because we haven’t provided the men and women in construction with the same powerful tools to manage their work that today’s office workers take for granted. It’s time to change that. Reducing the cost, time, and pain it takes to build and operate will revolutionize the industry’s approach to construction specifically and real estate management broadly—and revolutionize how we manage humanity’s built environments overall. Even a savings of one percent would change the game. And we can do a lot better than one percent. OpenSpace was built and conceived on the job site, not in a conference room. Our CEO had served the construction industry at his past company, and we saw firsthand some of the struggles builders had everyday. The founders built OpenSpace in response to these struggles, and they tested out their ideas in the field from day 1, rejecting and refining prototypes until they heard both the field and office tell them, “Hey—if you can build that, we will definitely buy it—and use it every day.” So we built it, we called the company OpenSpace, and we’ve been off and running ever since.

How we do

At OpenSpace, we’re using cutting-edge technology—think the perception and navigation AI systems used in self-driving cars—to allow people out in the real world to efficiently capture their work, analyze it, and get things done. We’re building virtual time machines for every job site. Our Core Values are: 1) Simplify Everything 2) Expect Excellence from Each Other 3) Done is Better than Perfect 4) Don't Take Yourself Too Seriously!
