What we do

Edible Garden City is a social enterprise that is dedicated to creating social change through community-centric agriculture. We are a diverse group of local farmers, with the common goal of helping cities become more self-sufficient by growing food in under-utilised spaces. Through edible landscaping, or foodscaping as we like to call it, we have brought farms closer to the community, and activated unlikely areas into green community spaces. Our urban farming model, Citizen Farm, produces fresh, tasty and nutritious fresh herbs, flowers, and vegetables. Additionally, we teach and support our fellow farmers, whether they are experienced, or aspiring, and hire from marginalised communities and employ our gardens for therapeutic horticulture. we are committed to finding a sustainable solution to managing food waste and achieving greater food resilience in Singapore.

Why we do

We share the same belief that growing our own food connects us with nature and cultivates a sense of community.

How we do

We design, build and maintain edible gardens in tropical urban Singapore, many of which are located within restaurants, hotels, schools and residences. Since 2012, we have completed more than 200 edible gardens such as Marina Bay Sands, Resort World Sentosa, Six Senses, OUE Downtown Gallery, The Summerhouse, Canossian School. Citizen Farm is the food production arm of Edible Garden City. The Citizen Farm concept is rooted in seizing opportunities where others may see land and climate limitations. With our farm production, we aim to cultivate high-quality produce that is nutritious, and grown pesticide-free and with minimal waste. Our produce varies from microgreens, leafy greens, edible flowers to golden oyster mushrooms. We supply our freshly-harvested produce to over 100 restaurants, ranging from Michelin-starred eateries to up-and-cocktail bars, and to some 50 families through our weekly vegetable subscription programme, Citizen Box. Education plays a key role in our outreach, as we spread farming know-how and awareness on the multiple benefits of horticulture. We host enriching and educational workshops for schools, corporates and private groups. We are able to customise programmes according to skills-based or values-based objectives. Our programmes are suitable for upper primary school to post-secondary students, educators, corporates, and interest groups that want a glimpse of the future of food and sustainability in agriculture as well as a self-sufficient lifestyle. Want to hold a workshop in your own space? We can bring the garden to you too!
