Introduction
My name is Kentaro Sakamoto and I am the president of Definer Inc.
My name is Kentaro Sakamoto.
Wantedly seems to be proposing the concept of "empathetic hiring," and I felt that I should make a clear statement of my values as a representative of the company.
As stated in the title, this article is about my favorite operating system and the policies that the company employs.
I like Linux
When I first encountered Linux, I was impressed. The user and group privilege management mechanisms, the concept of Kernel, the consistency of command-based processing.
As a Windows user, I remember that I was gradually immersed in the world of Linux. Before I knew it, I was using Ubuntu on Windows, and then, of course, I switched to Mac Book Pro.
I especially like Ubuntu and Mac.
Ubuntu is originally a South African Zulu word, which apparently means "I am because you are", or "you are and I am". Regardless of gender, "you make me who I am," a very kind word.
In fact, Ubuntu is full of unspeakable love. Other Linuxes are, well, good, but subtle, difficult to use, and it is very understandable that important AI systems and distributions are globally deployed on Ubuntu.
And I also like Mac OS. It is said to be based on the Mach microkernel, an operating system (OS) developed at Carnegie Mellon University since 1985, and its design philosophy is also excellent.
Each OS has its own merits and demerits, but I really feel that it is good. I really feel that it is good.
Version control of operating systems, with Ubuntu's high reliability being the company-wide standard
We specify a reliable version of Ubuntu with Docker and ensure that apps are deployed on top of it. We also manage the dependencies of our apps in a YAML-like manner to ensure transparency. This is because we know the damage and fire caused by the disorder of operating systems in a certain project.
In any case, we have achieved a thorough visualization, transparency, and productivity system.
For those who have read this
If you have read this far, I am sure we share some values, and I would be very happy if we could talk casually first.
Definer, Inc. is looking for people to work with.
