What we do
Prior Art Rapid Report
Hosting an AI and NLP meetup
Guided by our core values, we push the boundaries of applied artificial intelligence to design creative solutions for systemic problems. For example, we created a map of the world’s patent knowledge in order to empower inventors, attorneys, and patent offices with more accurate insight into the state of the art in any given field. As a result, our customers benefit from dramatic increases in efficiency and society benefits from a fairer system that promotes innovation instead of litigation.
We’re a small team with ambitious goals. To achieve this, we need the flexibility and power to translate our ideas to software rapidly and correctly. We chose Elixir as the core of our stack because it offers speed, a simple but powerful concurrency model, and top notch tooling. Phoenix is the icing on the cake. It’s honestly fun to use, and it has helped us rapidly become industry leaders in performance. Even better, easy concurrency means we can integrate our machine learning services (written in Python, serving our own proprietary models) quickly and simply.
On the front end, we love React and we love Apollo. With a large API surface due to the complexity of patents, we can rapidly develop components that only have the data we want without changing the back end APIs. We’re always forward looking, eager to use emerging best practices like storybook and styled-components so we can develop features our customers will enjoy more quickly.
Why we do
Invited as keynote speaker by the European Patent Office to talk about how AI will change the patent system
Discussing how AI can great a fairer patent process to further promote innovation
At Amplified AI, we are a rapidly growing team dedicated to changing the way the world innovates. Our mission is as important as it is audacious. Advances in science and technology are the only opportunity to solve many of society's greatest threats, such as access to clean water, climate change, and antibiotic resistance. We're not sending humans to Mars (yet), but we are enabling the people building that technology to get there faster.
We are a low-ego culture defined by trust, respect, and empathy. Work is egalitarian and informal but also fast-paced and pragmatic. We expect a lot from ourselves and, by extension, from each other. While we are excited about the potential our work has to make an impact in the world, we did not come for the glamour. So we keeping a low profile while furiously lining up the most interesting companies in the world as our early customers and building a world class team.
We strive to make a positive impact on society and build excellent products while nurturing and enjoying our private lives.
Our core values are compassion, diversity, and transparency. We are compassionate towards ourselves, our teammates, our product, and our customers.
In practice, that means:
Do what you say
Own your mistakes
Give others the benefit of the doubt
Listen actively
Ask for help
Be proactive
Be humble
We value diversity and inclusion for many reasons. Our work impacts all kinds of people all over the planet from customers to colleagues. We want to work in a place we feel comfortable. We respect different perspectives and bringing diverse backgrounds to the table leads to better decision making and fewer blind spots.
Transparency and communication is how we build trust with each other and our customers. It part of everything we do and is present in how we communicate and design product. We communicate frequently (but often asynchronously) primarily through writing.
How we do
We're a remote-first and global team but we also find and enjoy time to spend together in person
We value family and relaxation - sometimes we get together for parties like a summer bbq
