The next type of headlights on the efficiency of LED lamps are the so-called "mono" in the reflector headlights. Mono bases are H7, HB4, H11, that is a separate light, a separate section of the dipped beam. In them the LED lamps shine rather well too but the gain is somewhat less. What does it have to do with? First of all due to the fact that the design of the halogen was developed after the H4 and in this design have been taken into account the disadvantages of H4, and the efficiency of the lamp itself, that is a halogen, has become much higher. The halogen became brighter, and that is why this standard replaced the more outdated standard of the H4 bulb. Therefore, LEDs in these bases are already more difficult to compete with halogen. But we can still improve illumination by 1.5-2 times by using good quality lamps with an elaborate heat sink system and with the right focus.
A special subgroup are headlights with bases installed not vertically, but at some angle. The bottom line is that in such headlamps, where the seat is set at an angle, even high-quality LED lamps can shine completely wrong. This is due to the fact that the halogen itself, installed in a headlamp, light up to 360 degrees, regardless of whether the base is planted straight or at an angle. LED bulbs have not yet learned how to shine in 360 degrees, so when we put the LED lamp in the headlight with a seat, located at an angle, we can get wrong, distorted light and shadow boundary. For such headlamps is better to use LED lamps, which allow rotation of the base relative to the lamp itself, or to refine the LED lamps, where there is no rotation.

One of the most difficult sites for the installation of LED headlamps is the lensed optics and lensed headlamps. If you have a lens installed in the headlight, the gain from using LED headlights will be the most minimal. This is due to the fact that the reflector of the headlights is the smallest, but even half of the reflector is blocked by a curtain, which forms the light and shadow boundary. For LEDs, this is extremely important, because for them it is important heat dissipation. It's one thing to dissipate heat from chips on a board that is, say, 1-1.5 cm wide, but another thing to do so on a board that is about 5mm wide. Accordingly, the higher the temperature of the chips, the worse they shine, and they also have a shorter lifespan. Therefore, it is extremely difficult for manufacturers to make a well-luminous, high-quality and long-lasting LED lamp. Chip manufacturers are certainly working on such a parameter as increasing the operating temperature of chips and their service life, but work in this area is not going as fast as we would like.
Installing LED lenses instead of regular
For owners of cars with lensed headlights is much more effective option to install LED lenses than installing LED bulbs in the existing lenses.
