I am naturally curious, with a strong desire to learn. I am currently taking a gap year, interning at various educational institutions and volunteering with different organisations.
I volunteered to assist Angels of Impact (AI) in marketing a research report titled "Funding Needs of Women-Led SMEs", as well as research on the types of grants available to women-led businesses. In the process, I learned about the structural barriers slowing down women's economic empowerment, despite the potential contributions of women-led businesses to society.
I volunteered to be on the production committee for Wilderness, as a member of the costumes department. I assisted in sourcing for costumes, make-up, and doing logistics. (TRC is legally a society)
I want to be in a place to help others, whether through training or special needs programmes. My interests tend to lean towards education, but I'm still exploring. I dream of creating an education curriculum that overhauls two centuries of desks and chairs.
My group of three did a research paper on the presentation of gender in Japan's Takarazuka Revue. The ostensible gender equity achieved by the all-female troupe playing male characters concealed a patriarchal ideal of gender.
