As a Senior Copywriter, your main role would be to lead our creative marketing content efforts across brands and projects and AKÏN. You will work together with our designers and account managers to create content that is engaging and brand relevant. This role will require you to understand and identify what makes content gain traction.
You revel in reading and turning this into interesting content for brands. You have a keen sense of business objectives, and strive to create content that translates meaningful growth for your stakeholders. You’ll also be happy to take charge of development content strategy and topic generation, ensuring that it drives forward marketing initiatives.
Responsibilities
Research and strategy:
● Take ownership of copy briefs and answer them to a high standard
● Works with team to create effective content pitches to clients
● Research industry-related topics and identify gaps in our content for projects, accounts, and pitches
● Stays on top of content trends in digital, and proactively encourage internal teams to capitalize learnings for quality production
Leadership:
● Leads copy development process and content creation
● Offer creative ideas and encourage others to share theirs
● Organise and lead brainstorming sessions with colleagues and clients
● Able to effectively manage internal resources
● Collaborate with designers, product marketers, sales professionals, and external influencers and industry experts to produce relevant content that meets the needs of both key stakeholders and our audience.
Project responsibilities:
● Demonstrate a clear understanding of campaign objectives and devise strategies to achieve them
● Executes content marketing strategy and generates demand for products and services
● Able to write strategic, engaging and search-optimized content for various digital channels, including websites, blogs, email and social media
● Reviews phases of online projects, and ensures all online copy is strategically sound, brand-appropriate, search engine optimized and aligned with the company's overall creative approach
Experience and skills:
Project skills:
● Strong writing skills and mastery of the English language
● A flair for writing and exploration of various writing styles
● A persuasive and confident approach to creativity
● Significant experience in professional, commercial writing
● Comfortable research and writing long-form articles for different industries
● Experience in / involved in planning and strategizing projects
● Understands basic marketing principles and how content strategy drives effectiveness
Team dynamics:
● Excited about working with different personalities and backgrounds
● Confident in presentation
● Familiarity with creative processes and techniques
● A keen attention to detail and timelines
Who you might be:
● 4-5 years of agency experience; or of 3 years if you have the hunger and appetite to push your limits
● Basic Proficiency with digital marketing platforms
● Ability to think laterally with great attention to detail
● Excellent listening skills and ability to respond to briefs accurately
● Balanced analytical and creative mindset
● Able to multitask and manage multiple projects
● Ability to take initiative and think innovatively to improve efficiencies and problem solve
● A dual-minded approach: You’re highly creative, and you are interested in business approaches and not afraid to think about it
● A team player who knows when to have fun and when to flip the table and systems.
