ABOUT RED AIRSHIP
Red Airship was born out of a desire to form a team with a humanistic and desirable culture to build products of exceptional quality that improves people's lives through design and technology.
Most software is notoriously complicated and hard to design and build. Many teams today still apply ineffective and outdated processes to tackle complex tasks like creating software for people. The result is that projects fail and often because people become disillusioned, unhappy and unmotivated as time progresses. So we asked why? And we found that people were not learning, because the organisations they were in were not facilitating learning, and were often falling back on old practices deemed safe. Some do not care about people. Many have unforgiving environments.
We exist to improve that and to show that there are better ways to work and learn.
For the past four years, our clients, ranging from Startups to Large Enterprises, have continued to work with us because we have challenged their norms and guide them into adopting improved processes.
Now we want to seek and reach out to more organisations that have a strong learning culture, are ideally agile, and are looking for complementary and strategic design and development team that can improve the outcomes of their technology projects.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
You embraced the Agile methodology and in the process, discovered a renewed love for your PM role. You genuinely enjoy the underlying principles of Agile. It’s not just another recipe to be followed because it is the flavour of the month, but instead, it aligns with your working style and personal philosophy. You emphasise on iterative development, incremental delivery, self-managing teams and attendant artefacts.
As a Project Manager, your tasks include the traditional:
- Project Financials & Financial/Portfolio Reporting
- Status Reporting
- Project Governance
- Identification of missing roles/resources and resolution/escalation of same
- Business stakeholder communication
- Issue/Risk communication/resolution/escalation – removing blockers
- Project Planning
- Change Management
As a Scrum Master (SM), you are also responsible for:
- Ensuring the team adheres to its processes (and all that entails regarding artefacts and meetings)
- Resolution/escalation of inadequate or ill-defined user stories - ensuring Product Owner accountability
- Removing barriers and shielding the team from external interference
You have always seen yourself as that servant leader, not being a technical expert or a SME. Your job is to keep the project on track and remove blockers to progress. Either as a PM or a SM, you serve the team.
You believe that adapting to Agile gives new life to discipline at the crossroads of alternative pathways for software development, allowing PMs to re-invent themselves and stay continuously relevant to the art of Project Management.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?
You will have the opportunity to plan, execute and oversee strategic projects from start to the end.
Ideally
You value openness, transparency, honesty
You respect other people
You are a systematic thinker
You listen to others
You can present and articulate yourself well
You are capable of solving problems
You are good at delegating the tasks accordingly to the team’s expertise
You work well with others
You are a fun person
We look forward to meeting you!
