Emily Ong

Emily has extensive professional experience in the private, public and people sectors. She started her career in advertising and marketing with Miller Freeman Pte Ltd and Singapore Press Holdings Ltd in the media sector. In 2002, she made a switch to the Singapore Public Service, starting out as an arts and heritage policy officer at the then-Ministry of Information and the Arts (MITA). Since then, she has been posted to various divisions within the then-Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts (MICA), followed by stints in the Economic Development Board (EDB), Media Development Authority (MDA), Ministry of Communications and Information (MCI) and the DesignSingapore Council (Dsg). During this time, Emily has spearheaded policies and initiatives, as well as worked with companies, schools, professional bodies and individuals to grow the arts, media, design, infocomm sectors in Singapore. She has also been involved in formulating and developing major masterplans such as the Arts & Culture Strategic Plan, Infocomm Media 2025 and Design 2025 Masterplan.

SG Enable, the focal agency for disability and inclusion in Singapore, enables persons with disabilities to live, learn, work and play in an inclusive society. We create equitable opportunities for persons with disabilities through thought leadership, sustainable social innovation and impactful partnership. Guided by our core values of professionalism, innovation and empathy, we envision a more inclusive Singapore and enabled lives. Set up by the Ministry of Social and Family Development in 2013, we are a registered charity and an Institution of a Public Character.

As a new team member

[Overall Job Responsibility] You will lead a team who is responsible for delivering Public Education initiatives to promote disability awareness and inclusion in our society. You will work with funders, employers, educators, social service agencies, essential service providers and strategic partners to identify ways to collaborate and enhance disability awareness and inclusion in schools, at work and in the community. You will have the opportunity to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment with motivated people who are passionate about disability inclusion. [Duties and Responsibilities] - Drive the development of public education strategy and framework to achieve desired outcomes of raising awareness about disability and inclusion - Seek out and manage strategic collaborations with key external stakeholders (e.g. government agencies, social service agencies, corporations, social enterprises, community partners) to embark on initiatives that promote disability awareness amongst the general public and in targeted settings, offer opportunities to bridge knowledge to action and enable greater inclusion of persons with disabilities - Manage appointed creative agency and associated vendors including paid media partnership to carry out disability awareness campaigns, development of resources for stakeholders, and the design and production of collaterals within stipulated timelines - Keep up with social issues or challenges faced by persons with disabilities and consider how public education could be leveraged to alleviate such issues - Lead the impact study of the public education initiatives to measure the overall effectiveness of the public education campaign and conduct an in-depth review of the strategy - Oversee the administration of a grant that funds organisations to carry out inclusive events or activities (that are within the ambit of the grant), which includes processing of grant applications and fund disbursement - Manage budgets and periodic reporting to funders [Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience] - Degree holder in relevant discipline - At least 8 – 10 years’ experience in organising and delivering campaigns (including social/digital media campaigns), events or programmes - Able to demonstrate excellent problem-solving and analytical thinking, communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills - Strong leadership skills and able to persuade and influence others - Outgoing personality, action-oriented with a collaborative and can-do spirit - Strong ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, resourceful and work within tight deadlines - Strong project management skills - Strong command of spoken and written English If you are ready to embark on a fulfilling journey in a fast-paced environment with strong purpose, professional growth and culture of excellence, and our ethos of professionalism, innovation and empathy resonate with you, click "I'm interested" to connect!
