We are looking for a Manager to join our Philanthropy team. The position aims to bridge the distance from donors to grantee partners. To do well in this role, one needs to be highly motivated, and dynamic and value the relationships we build with every partner and project. The candidate should have the zeal to work in a dynamic environment and contribute with full enthusiasm and a sense of ownership.
[Job Description]
Your key responsibilities as a Manager in the Philanthropy team will include:
- Engaging stakeholders to keep abreast of emerging needs and gaps in the community
a. Organise discussions with charities, foundations, corporations and government partners.
- Overseeing the grant management cycle
a. Execute the philanthropy strategy under the guidance of the Head of Philanthropy, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.
b. Cultivate relationships with potential grantees, conducting due diligence and evaluating grant proposals.
c. Prepare grant recommendation papers for grant panel review.
d. Prepare grant approval documents.
e. Monitor project implementation.
f. Work with grantee partners to measure social impact.
g. Solicit feedback from grantees to improve the grant management process.
- Donor Management
a. Support partnership with the Advancement team to maintain relationships with donors.
b. Develop donor updates and reports to communicate the impact of funds.
- Grantee Partner Management
a. Conduct periodic check-ins with the partners to track fund disbursements and utilisation.
b. Maintain database and network with past, current and prospective Grantee partners.
c. Organise periodic enrichment programmes for grantee partners.
- Managing internal systems
a. Implement and enhance processes to facilitate and support donor engagement and grant-making.
b. Collaborate with internal TMT teams to ensure effective programme implementation and reporting.
- Guiding team members to achieve work deliverables and objectives
a. Support the Head of Philanthropy in managing team members, providing mentorship, and contributing to a positive team culture.
[Desired Key Skills]
- A minimum of 3 - 5 years experience in the social impact sector, particularly in donor relationship management, grant-making or building partnerships with stakeholders across the public, people and private sectors.
- The following attributes will help a candidate succeed in this role:
a. Analytical skills: Ability to investigate problems, identify root issues, and collect, analyse and interpret data.
b. Decision-making ability: Ability to correctly judge grantee partners and grant causes to make the right decisions based on insights and information.
c. Strong communicator: Ability to communicate complex and difficult messages in a structured, tactful and nuanced way.
d. Empathy: Show care and understanding for the people and communities we seek to serve.
e. Self-starter: Ability to work in a dynamic environment and ability to make decisions independently.
f. People skills: A good read on people and organisations, especially in the social sector will be an added advantage.
While candidates with the above experience would be preferred, we are open to considering candidates from diverse backgrounds.
