5 Out of Office Messages To Copy This Holiday Season
Yup, it’s that time of the year again where everyone’s slipping into the holiday mood 🎄🎁
By now, your neighbourhood supermarket is probably already blasting the classic Christmas tunes, your favourite colleagues are on vacation many miles away, and you’re counting down the days till you get to clear your annual leave 😏
Before you trade your office pass for a YouTrip card, you’d need to first power through your to-do list and prepare a super swee handover for your team. Then all is good, right? Not quite. You don’t have the right to exclaim “pang gang oh” and disconnect from work just yet 🙅
I, for one, tend to forget to set my automated out-of-office (OOO) email responder and scramble to do it before the plane takes off 🙈 It’s important to inform your customers and business associates (and remind your colleagues!) that you’re away, especially if they’re expecting a prompt response.
As someone who sends out emails every week, I get tons of OOO messages in return. From HR-approved to the wacky and wonderful, here are five best OOO messages I’ve received from Wantedly’s very own users that you can copy this season.
The Basic One
A standard OOO responder email simply needs to inform the sender that you are out of the office and when to expect a response. Like this:
Thank you for your email. I am currently out of the office until [date] and will have limited access to my email. If you require immediate assistance for any urgent matters, please contact [name] at [email] or [phone] in my absence.
The Funny One
If you want to add a humorous spin to your vacation responder email, here’s a great idea:
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Looking for [name]?
He/She’s OOO boohoo
Thanks for your email (and for tolerating the above poem).
I’m currently out-of-office from [date] until [date]. I’ll be back on [date] and will be happy to respond to your email then.
The Quirky One
If an equally epic OOO message is the only thing missing from your upcoming epic adventure, check out this quirky one:
It’s that time of the year. The time where I save up all my annual leaves and spend it on one epic adventure.
Where am I?
Tibet, the roof of the world.
I will be halfway up Mount Everest. And I too wondered if I will get any wifi up there 🤔 I think they do. If you have any questions about your account, you may get in touch with my very capable and friendly colleagues at [email].
As with all journeys, however magical, my trip will have to end. I will be back to the grind on [date].
The Opportunistic One
This one’s for all the marketing/sales buffs. Turn your vacation responder into a lead generation tool and collect leads even while you’re away!
Thanks for your email. I’m currently out-of-office until [date] with limited access to email. If your request is urgent, please contact [name] at [email] or [phone].
In the meantime, did you know that we have a weekly newsletter? Step right up for a weekly dose of all your favorite content from us, delivered right to your inbox. Don’t miss out on the good stuff! Sign up for our newsletter here: [link]
I’ll be sure to get back to you as soon as I’m back on [date]. Appreciate your patience!
The Festive One
What’s the best way to spread the festive cheer? Getting your email senders excited about your favourite holiday of course! Here’s a great one:
It’s my favorite time of the year, which means I’m currently out-of-office stuffing my face with cookies, sipping on cocktails, and watching [your favourite holiday movie] for the 67th time.
I’ll be back at work on [date] and will respond to your email then. If you need immediate assistance, the other elves in the workshop are happy to help out! You can reach them at [email] or [phone].
So there you have it! While having fun with your auto-responder, try not to get carried away and end up upsetting anyone or get in trouble with HR! 😉
