Peatix Singapore marks a decade of serving homegrown communities!
Peatix Singapore celebrated its momentous 10th anniversary with more than 100 community organizers in attendance on June 6 at The Projector. Having served 2 million users, 6,000 communities and 55,000 events across a decade, this event was especially remarkable to commemorate.
Marking a decade of empowering event creators and revolutionizing event discovery, the event brought together long-standing collaborators, community organizers and generous sponsors namely Pengwine, Specific Gravity, Golden Duck and Roa for a night of reflection and enrichment.
Kicking off the festivities, The Happiness Initiative’s Sherman Ong facilitated a networking segment using a very special card game called ‘What Truly Matters’ which saw new and regular Peatix organizers engaging in valuable conversations.
Global MarComm Senior Manager Michelle Leong, Product Management Senior Manager, Ethel Ong and Community Partnerships Associate Manager, Nicholas Gerard carried out a succinct presentation on how far we’ve come as a platform, the valuable connections we’ve made and our exciting plans for the future.
Some of the presentation’s key highlights included Peatix Singapore’s role in supporting the great pivot and creation of online events during the height of the pandemic, revitalisation of the platform’s Group pages and its newly-released Peatix Token Gating feature which enables NFT communities to extend holders exclusive access to events.
Peatix CEO Taku Harada graced the occasion with a few words of gratitude to the Peatix Singapore users and event organizers for their unwavering trust throughout the years.
“When we have conversations with local customers in Singapore, they are sometimes surprised to know that Peatix is a service that originated in Japan. I believe this is proof that Peatix has taken root in the local community in Singapore, thanks to the staff's 10 years of unrelenting efforts. We hope to further expand our services to Singapore and the surrounding South East Asian region, which is becoming increasingly diverse,” he said.
The keynote segment of Peatix’s 10th anniversary celebration was a special edition of Backstage Pass. Having completed 21 editions, this programme is a cornerstone in community relations which offers Peatix an opportunity to showcase some of the best and brightest community initiatives in Singapore.
The Backstage Pass fireside chat witnessed Grapplemax Prowrestling co-founder Greg Ho, Aliwal Chess Club founder Hirfan Romzi, Void Deck Games interactive and participatory design director Raihan Harun as well as Happiness Initiative co-founder Sherman Ho, sharing about how their communities first began and how it continues to create social impact today.
The riveting panel discussion resulted in greater insight from Raihan and Greg on how experience creators especially in games and sports ideate to not only get people into playing the game but keep them playing and contribute to the building of a healthy gaming environment. While Hirfan and Sherman offered new perspectives on how event organizers can improve accessibility and inclusivity to their initiatives by making caring considerations.
To keep the celebratory atmosphere alive, the event culminated in four 60 second pitches which saw audience members taking the stage to share their upcoming initiatives for one quick minute followed by a joyous musical performance from acclaimed local band and Peatix Live organiser Bakers In Space’s Eugene Soh.
The Peatix Singapore team expresses their heartfelt gratitude to all attendees, sponsors, speakers, and collaborators for making this milestone occasion a resounding triumph. As the team looks forward to the next decade, we remain committed to empowering community organizers and delivering more innovative solutions for the industry.
