The Japanese anime industry is worth $8 Billion in global merchandise spend and $4 Billion in video. Essentially the new release of 200 new series and around 60 new films each year drive sales of merchandise. Demand for merchandise is highest the moment a new anime show is streamed worldwide, however today there is no way to satisfy that demand on a global basis leading to unlicensed fan art and piracy. Anime studios usually wait 3-6 months to assess the success of a show before scaling physical merchandise inventory while digital merchandise options are limited. We built BlockPunk to empower any creator to easily create and sell digital merchandise on a global basis. We use Blockchain so fans can claim true digital ownership, this is a new asset class called crypto collectibles. We launched the world's first anime crypto collectibles in April 2018.
