Little Japanese? No Problem! Join Our International Team in Japan
Want to work in Japan, but your Japanese is still a work in progress? You might be just who we're looking for.
Moving to another country can be exciting — but finding a job when you don't speak the local language fluently can feel challenging.
At Radish Ride, we welcome people who are comfortable communicating in English and are excited to share Japan with visitors from around the world.
You don't need to speak perfect Japanese to get started.
English is an important part of what we do
Radish Ride offers guided self-drive tours on the Miura Peninsula, about an hour from Tokyo.
Our guests drive their own compact, open-top electric vehicles while our guide leads the way through scenic country roads, vegetable fields and coastal landscapes.
Many of our guests come from overseas, so English plays an important role in welcoming them, explaining the experience and helping them enjoy their tour.
If you enjoy meeting people and communicating in English, you already have a useful skill to bring to our team.
How much Japanese do you need?
A little Japanese is enough to start the conversation.
You don't need to be fluent or understand every conversation around you.
We are more interested in your attitude, communication skills, reliability and willingness to learn.
Being able to use a few everyday Japanese phrases is helpful, and you can continue improving your Japanese while living and working here.
Of course, clear communication is essential when it comes to safety and operating procedures. You must be able to understand and follow the instructions required for your role.
What kind of person are we looking for?
You might be a great fit if you:
- Feel comfortable speaking English with international guests.
- Enjoy meeting people from different cultures.
- Are friendly, reliable and willing to learn.
- Don't mind helping with practical tasks and working outdoors.
- Want to experience everyday life in Japan beyond the major tourist destinations.
Experience in tourism or hospitality is welcome, but a positive attitude and a willingness to contribute are important too.
More than just a job
Working at Radish Ride means helping travellers discover a different side of Japan.
You may welcome guests, support tour preparations, help with daily operations and contribute ideas for social media or the guest experience, depending on your role and skills.
You'll be part of a small team where communication, flexibility and helping one another matter.
And while your Japanese may start with just a few words, you may find plenty of opportunities to use those words, learn more and build confidence along the way.
A few important things to know
There are a couple of practical requirements to keep in mind:
- You must have the appropriate legal status to work in Japan.
- Driving duties require a valid driving licence that meets Japanese legal requirements. Your eligibility will need to be confirmed.
- You must arrange your own accommodation and commute to our base near Keikyu Misakiguchi Station in Miura.
- You must be able to understand and follow the safety instructions relevant to your role.
We do not provide accommodation or housing-search assistance.
